FAQ

Sending Chat Messages
  • Click on the Chat tab.
  • Click on the Troop chat.
  • Type a message.
  • Click the Send button. Your message is now added to the chat for all participants to view.
Adding your son or daughter to ScoutChat
  • Click on the More tab.
  • Click on Members.
  • Click the Add button in the top bar.
  • Choose Youth for the member type.
  • Set the birthdate and press the save button to close the birthdate popup.
  • Choose a first and last name.
  • Click on the blue Parents Add button, choose yourself from the list.
  • Press the Save button to close the Parents popup.
  • Press Save in the top bar to create the new member. They are automatically added to the troop chat group.
RSVPing for an Event
First, roster your scout (see above). Then:
  • Click on the Calendar tab.
  • Click on Test Event for RSVP.
  • RSVP “Going” for yourself.
  • Change the Responding For dropdown to be Scout or your son or daughter.
  • RSVP "Going" for them.
  • Click on the Permission Granted checkbox (E-Permissions are an optional feature).
  • Click on the blue button under RSVP Going to see the RSVP report for the event.
  • Cancel the RSVP popup report.
  • Use the back arrow to return to the Calendar page. You can adjust the filter in the corner of the top bar to choose future events or to see all events.
Reviewing the troop chat group
  • Click the More tab.
  • Click Groups.
  • Click troop group.
  • Click the clipboard button in the top bar. The report shows the last time each adult checked messages.
  • On this page you can add and delete group members; Save the group after changes.
  • You can set or unset the readonly checkbox for group members; Save the group after changes.
Using the Settings Tab
  • Click the Settings tab.
  • The Family Info link lets you view and edit your children.
  • The Theme radio buttons let you choose light or dark theme.
  • You can choose how often you would like notifications for new chat messages.
  • ScoutChat is also available on Microsoft Windows. Set a password here to enable Windows access.
Unit Page
  • Click the More tab.
  • Click Unit Information.
  • The city, state, and zip are the default for new members.
  • The Notification Status Report lets you see who has notifications enabled.
  • The Promote button bumps all youth into the next grade.
  • The Roster button lets you extract a troop roster.
Contacting Adult Members
  • Click on the More tab.
  • Click on Members.
  • If youth are displayed, click on the Adults radio button
  • Click on an adult member.
  • You can call them by pressing on their phone number.
  • You can email them by pressing on their email address.
Viewing Events Scouts Have Attended
  • Click on the More tab.
  • Click on Members.
  • If adults are displayed, click on the Youth radio button to get the youth list.
  • Click on a scout.
  • Click on the Events Attended button.
  • Click on Show Spreadsheet. All ScoutChat reports are downloadable.
  • Cancel the events attended report to close the popup.
  • Cancel or use the return arrow to get back to the youth members list.

Sending Notifications The Notifications page sends an emergency notification to one of the adults or to the entire unit.
